The following galleries display a variety of Wolo's art. The sketches below are just that, a few sketches gleaned from the many of his sketchbooks I have. Wolo was a talented artist that could bring real life to a page or canvas.
The illustrations below are a sampling of his many colorful fantasy drawings I have. In many ways my father enjoyed entering his fantasy kingdom whether it was to write a book or entertain a crowd of kids with his puppets; he could beautifully merge fantasy with reality. Take a look.
| Illustrations Wolo left me a key into his fantasy kingdom in the form of his original illustration both in black and white and color. Some are small and others very large. We have scanned a few of them and placed them into this gallery for you to enjoy. |
Greeting Cards Wolo tried his hand at greeting cards. He found that his colorful little animals and critters along with a short note conveyed a happy and cheerful greeting. Take a look at this sampling, you'll never look at traditional Christmas the same way again. |
Newspapers During the thirties Wolo joined the San Francisco Chronicle to provide a very popular long running front page column highlighting San Francisco life in a character-sketch form. His unique and humorous style made him an immediate success with the common people of San Francisco. Wolo was the master of the quick sketch as you can see by the reproductions of his column in this gallery. |

| Murals Wolo was intrigued by the challenge of doing big art, namely murals. He did quite a few murals in and around San Francisco. The most noted was is mural in the Children's hospital in Palo Alto. His colorful little animals translated into joy and hope for the little patients there. |
Post Cards Several of Wolo's friends made me aware that there were Wolo post cards out there. It was a surprise to me. A couple of individuals made their cards and scans available to me to share with Wolo's fans. (Now if you just had enough money to buy a stamp!) |
Bottle Caps During the forties, Wolo's artwork was featured on a series of milk bottle caps for San Francisco's Bell-Brook Dairies. |

| Caricatures Wolo was an excellent caricaturist. He had a very unique and smooth style, quick at sketching, and had an uncanny ability to condense the uniqueness of a person's face and personality on paper. |
Sketches Many were never aware that my father was a serious artist that was as at home with oils as he was the color pencil. In this short gallery we have a sampling of his views of San Francisco and Europe. People and places come alive as we turn the pages of his sketchbooks. Indeed we look at a Wolo world. |
Miscellaneous In running through my fathers art, there are bits and pieces of artwork and ideas that are difficult to categorize. Wolo's miscellaneous pieces help round out the mystery of the artist "Wolo." |
